MichiganWhat's in
your water?

We test your water in your home, on the spot, with our own equipment. Then we build the system your water actually needs — nothing more, nothing you don't.

A free hardware-store strip tells you a little. It doesn't tell you what you're drinking. Our in-home testing goes further — and where a certified result is required, we'll send it to an accredited lab.

In your home

Testing done on site with our own equipment — not a mail-in kit, not a guess.

Four levels

From straight safety filtration up to whole-house reverse osmosis.

Homes & farms

Residential, agricultural, and well systems — indoor and outdoor.

Step one

The test comes first

Nobody should buy a filter before they know what they're filtering. We start with a reading of your actual water — well or city — and go from there.

01 / TEST

We come out and test

On-site analysis at your kitchen tap and your supply line. You see the readings as we take them, and we explain what each one means in plain English.

02 / EXPLAIN

You get the results

Hardness, iron, chlorine, pH, and the contaminants that matter for your area. If a certified lab result is called for, we tell you that instead of guessing.

03 / BUILD

We size the system

The results decide the system — not a sales script. Sometimes that's our entry system. Sometimes it's full whole-house RO. We'll tell you which.

The systems

Four levels of water

Each level builds on the one before it. Start where your test says you need to be — you can always add on later.

01

Safety

Clean, safe drinking water — no conditioning

Our entry system does one job and does it well: it takes the dangerous stuff out. Contaminant reduction including lead and arsenic, delivering safe water throughout the house. No softening, no polishing — just water you can trust, at a price that makes sense.

Starting at $2,200 installed
02

Safety + Conditioning

Softened water, easier on skin, fixtures, and appliances

Everything in Level 1, plus water conditioning. Carbon and manganese dioxide media with finishing resins handle hardness along with iron, sulfur, and the taste and odor issues that come with Michigan groundwater.

  • Less scale on fixtures, glassware, and water heaters
  • Softer feel, less soap and detergent needed
  • Noticeably better taste and smell
Starting at $3,400 installed
03

Finishing

Polished water at every tap

Adds dedicated finishing filtration on top of safety and conditioning. This is the level for homes that want the water itself to be the upgrade — clarity, taste, and consistency you notice every time you fill a glass.

Starting at $4,800 installed
04

Whole-House Reverse Osmosis

Our top system — RO with green sand finishing

The full build: whole-house reverse osmosis with green sand finishing, on Fleck and Clack control heads. The Clack head draws ozone into the chamber during operation for continuous treatment. The clearest, cleanest water we can put in a house — every tap, every fixture, every day.

Starting at $6,500 installed

Under the hood

The media we run

The right media depends entirely on your test numbers — we size the bed to your water. These are the workhorses we build around, matched to what your results call for.

FILTRATION / RESINS

Targeted contaminant removal

Selective resins matched to what's actually in your water:

  • Arsenic-selective resin — reduces arsenic across the full drinking-water pH range
  • Weak-acid cation resin — lead reduction with softening
  • Chelating multi-metal resin — one bed for copper, cadmium, mercury and more
  • Tannin-selective resin — clears organic color and tannins
FINISHING / IRON & SULFUR

Clarity, iron, and odor

Two proven finishers, matched to your well:

  • GreensandPlus — reliable iron, manganese, and sulfur reduction; lightweight and low-backwash, with scheduled media service
  • Katalox Light — high-capacity catalytic media handling heavy iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide with minimal water use, ideal for low-yield wells

Every build is sized to your on-site test — never a one-size-fits-all cartridge.

Our story

Why we do this

Three generations of Michigan water work — and one loss that changed what we do with it.

Water has been the family trade since 1942.

My grandfather built his life around Michigan water — plumbing, boilers, excavation, city mains. If it carried water, he worked on it. Some of the lines he laid ran under Flint.

Decades later, during the Flint water crisis, he drank that water and it took him. He spent his life delivering water to people's homes, and it was the negligence of others that turned it against him.

United Filter Company exists because of that. We treat what comes out of your tap as something worth being certain about — and we keep learning, testing, and upgrading our equipment as the science moves.

Agricultural & well systems

We also build and service water systems for farms and rural properties — indoor and outdoor wells, livestock and irrigation supply, iron and sulfur treatment. Different water, same approach: test it first, then size the system to the reading.
